The Sacrament of Reconciliation (also known as Confession) was initiated by Christ as a way to cleanse our souls of sins and to make amends with our Lord. Sin is harmful because it weakens our relationship with Jesus. He wants to be united with us. A good, honest, and reflective Examination of Conscience and Confession leads us back to a state of grace. The love Jesus has for us is greater than any sin we have committed. We must have true sorrow in our hearts for what we have done. If you have not been to confession in a while, we welcome you back to the Catholic Church!
We understand you may feel anxious or apprehensive about confession, but there is no need to worry. Our priests are here to walk you through confession with the same love and compassion as our Lord, as when they hear our confessions, they are “In persona Christi” or “In the person of Christ.” You will be welcomed in the peace that only our Lord can bring.
If you are interested in contacting a priest for confession, please contact the office at (973) 345-4070.
