The saving work of Christ is continued in the Catholic Church, especially through the Seven sacraments which He instituted. The Church teaches that sacraments are sensible signs, given to us by Jesus Christ, through which He communicates invisible grace and inward sanctification to our souls. When we receive the sacraments, we encounter the Person of Christ. The seven sacraments are: Baptism, Confirmation, Eucharist, Reconciliation, Anointing of the Sick, Holy Orders and Matrimony. By words and signs the sacraments nourish, strengthen and express faith. They also impart grace to help us to know, love and worship God and to love and serve our neighbor.
For more in-depth information about each individual sacrament, please view or reference the menu on the left.
There, you will find detailed descriptions of their significance, and how they are celebrated here on our Block of Mercy.
