Building on Tradition 
 

And why is it our turn to build? Maybe this image can shed light on the answer. Have you ever received a call on your cell phone and, since you did not recognize the number and no name appeared, you refused to answer the call? I know I have. But then afterwards, after the call ended, I’ve thought about what I might have missed by not answering that call. Well my friends, today God is continuing to call men and women to holiness but, unfortunately, so many don’t recognize who is calling or even know the name of God and so they never answer Him. How tragic it is that they miss this call! But such was not the case with Zacchaeus, this tax collector, who Jesus called out to while he was up in a tree. From a tree in Jericho this man recognized that it was God calling and so he answered that call by receiving Jesus with joy. My friends, your pledge will help to provide the space, not in a tree in Jericho but a classroom here in Paterson, in which young and old, can come to know Jesus Christ in such a way that when He calls, and He will, they will know who it is who is calling them and will answer with great joy!

 

Construyendo sobre la Tradición 

¿Y por qué es nuestro turno de construir? Quizás esta imagen pueda dar luz sobre la respuesta. ¿Alguna vez has recibido una llamada en tu celular y porque no reconocemos el número y no apareció ningún nombre, decidiste no contestar la llamada? Me ha pasado a mi; lo he hecho, Pero después de que finalizó la llamada, pienso en lo que podría haber perdido al no contestar esa llamada. Amigos, hoy Dios sigue llamando a hombres y mujeres a la santidad, pero, desafortunadamente, muchos no reconocen quién está llamando o ni siquiera conocen el nombre de Dios, por lo que nunca le responden. ¡Qué trágico es que ellos pierdan esta llamada! Pero ese no fue el caso con Zaqueo, este recaudador de impuestos, a quien Jesús llamó mientras este estaba en un árbol. Desde un árbol en Jericó, este hombre reconoció que era un llamado de Dios y por eso respondió a ese llamado al recibir a Jesús con alegría. Amigos, su compromiso ayudará a proporcionar aquel lugar, no en un árbol en Jericó, sino en un salón de clases aquí en Paterson, en el que jóvenes y adultos pueden llegar a conocer a Jesucristo de tal manera que cuando Él llame, y ten por seguro que Él llamará; ¡Ellos Sabrán quién es el que los llama y ellos al mismo tiempo responderán con gran alegría!
