God is a good father and we are all Brothers and Sisters.
Have a Blessed New Year to One and All!
In his Urbi et Orbi Message (to the City and to the World), Pope Francis reflected on how the Christian message is about a child who came to tell us that “God is a good Father and we are all brothers and sisters”. He noted that without Jesus’ gift of fraternity, what we do to build a more just world would be “soulless and empty…. My wish for a happy Christmas is a wish for fraternity”.
In our mission of the new evangelization here at the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist, we strive together as sisters and brothers—through our worship, our faith formation programs, and our outreach to those in need—to build a more just world. We do this by helping one another to experience the mercy of God and, thus, have an encounter with our God who is a “good Father”. Each one of us, the members of Christ’s Body the Church, has a particular gift given by God that is meant to be shared for the purpose of building the Kingdom. This gift may be in social media, technology, music, catechesis, liturgy, youth ministry, maintenance, strategic planning, fundraising, finance, etc. To all those who already so generously share their gifts and talents with us here at the Cathedral, “thank you so much”! And to those who would like to become involved in our mission of helping others encounter our “good Father”, please contact us, as we look forward to you joining us as a sister or brother!
On behalf of the priests, deacons, and lay staff of the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist, we wish to each of you and your families all of our “good Father’s” blessings in the new year!! Thank you for your fraternity!
